Business Standard reports that a report on mobile broadband performance in India says that 4G accounted for 98.7% of total data traffic in the past year. According to experts, this spectacular growth in the consumption of data in the country will drive for the overall consumer experience. With the help of rising internet of things, updated mobile applications, virtual reality, smart homes, online education, entertainment, and online corporational work, which all contributed to the digital India initiative.

Moreover, the research finds that the average monthly data usage per person reached 13.5 GB in December 2020, with a growth of 20% year-on-year. While the new users from rural India contributed to the increasing average usage, the mobile applications appeared as the main source of usage. An average Indian has spent around 5 hours a day on their respective smart devices, which is the highest in the world.

The most popular and the fastest growing video format in 2020 was 'short video platforms, the category adopted by the big tech giants of the world.
